When I arrived at the agency, one of the first things I noticed was how disjointed all the video work was. Each video looked like a one off. When I was assigned to produce a series of videos for their Wholesale line of business, I jumped at the chance to create a branded look for them. Most of the videos for these lines of business don’t have a big budget and are mostly for a b2b audience. I saw that there was an opportunity to create a branded motion graphic toolkit, so that whenever a creative team and editor were tasked with creating a video, they could refer to this toolkit and use the elements to tell any kind of story. It was meant to be flexible and adapt as it’s used. Working with one of the agency’s designers, we came up with a branded motion toolkit. One can mix and match graphics, but no matter what, all the video work looks like it’s from the same family. Three things I implemented for upcoming videos: -length of videos needed to be cut to 1:00-1:30 max. And try for shorter depending on the subject matter. -Use a mix of stock footage with highlighted text and motion graphics -put to use their existing illustrated icon library to help with storytelling They must communicate a lot of information, but must do it in an engaging and energetic way. I’m pleased to report, it’s been a great success with clients and creatives.
